Description

Job Overview

Our client, a leading health system in the Atlanta metroplex, is seeking a General Lab Supervisor to oversee daily operations of their busy clinical hospital laboratory. This evening shift position requires rotating weekends.

The lab supervisor will be responsible for managing and administrative functions, including policy development, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance. Supervision will be exercised over laboratory supervisors, clinical staff, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

Manage laboratory operations, consulting with pathologists and reporting results according to protocols mandated by the hospital and public health department.
Maintain medical laboratory equipment performance by developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring staff compliance, certifying instrument performance, and arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
Monitor laboratory productivity, identifying peak and slack periods, and maintaining medical laboratory supplies inventory, anticipating needed supplies.
Participate in the hospital quality assurance program, consulting with pathologists, performing proficiency surveys, and reviewing QC & QA programs.
Maintain medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, counseling, reviewing/evaluating, and disciplining employees as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
ASCP or equivalent certification.
Three (3) years of leadership experience.

Additional Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
