    About the Job:
    United is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team supporting the power generation market.


    The successful candidate will be working in a technical lead role, as part of a team of engineers and designers developing preliminary and detailed designs of the next generation of nuclear power plants.

    *This role will follow a Hybrid schedule (Tues-Thurs in the office).

    We prefer someone who is local to Mt Laurel, NJ or Charlotte, NC.


    Job Responsibilities:
    Design of steel and concrete structures, including foundation design for the nuclear industry.
    Determine and establish the technical requirements to support

    preliminary/detailed

    design of a new small modular reactors (SMR) and facilities.

    Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.

    Develop and prepare calculations, reports, and drawings in support of the SMR design.
    Technical lead, working with the Supervising Discipline Engineer (SDE), providing technical advice on the overall structural approach in conjunction with

    constructability/modularization

    and other current structural issues.


    What we're looking for:
    Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
    Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    Ten (10) years of experience in seismic analysis and design of structures for nuclear power plants.
    Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States.
    Familiar with Regulatory Guides and Standard Review Plans.

    Ability to perform linear/non-linear dynamic analysis using ANSYS (Mechanical), SAP2000, STAAD Pro and Microsoft Office Visual Basic Application (VBA) skills within Excel.

    Ability to perform simple computer programming for post-processing of analysis data.
    Ability to design reinforced concrete and steel buildings considering seismic, thermal, flood, tornado, piping rupture load effects.

    Working knowledge in ASCE 7, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, Steel Composite Walls per AISC N690, Steel Composite Floors per ACI 349, Reinforced Concrete per ACI 349, and Steel Structures per AISC N690, AISC 360, AISC 341.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
    Knowledge of Canadian nuclear codes, standards, and guidelines.
    Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license in the province of New Brunswick, Canada.
    Soil-Structure Interaction and SASSI software
    Geotechnical Background
