    Caterpillar is seeking a Facilities Engineering Manager in Brooklyn Park, MN. In this role, you will provide a stable operation of the building, manufacturing equipment, utilities and services for a facility that produces prime product and/or components. Provide technical assistance and required craft services to support manufacturing and plant operations.

    This position also manages groups of hourly/salaried staff, directly or via subordinate supervisors, that are responsible for equipment maintenance, facility building and utilities maintenance, equipment and machinery installation, site construction and civil infrastructure support, subcontractor management, compliance to environmental and operational regulations, standards, and legislation.

    What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Work in a rotating shift and be on call for duties after working hours is part of the job scope.
  • Ensure plant wide utilities are supported including monitoring, operating, controlling and repairing heating, ventilating and air conditioning system for office and factory areas, and also involves the efficient operation of the supply and distribution system for water, power, compressed air, paint, coal gas, waste water treatment etc.
  • Provide maintenance services based on preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure the maintenance, availability and precision of the current jigs and fixtures within the factory environment
  • Ensuring quality and quantity standards are maintained throughout, assuring production targets and objectives are achieved
  • This position may also manage contract services for housekeeping, landscaping and salvage and waste removal from the property

    • A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Manufacturing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems.
  • Manufacturing Equipment: Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.
  • Plant Facilities Management: Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

    • Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • A 4 year degree in Engineering technology or similar discipline OR 5 years of progressively responsible job-related practical experience
  • Experience in manufacturing operations and processes, maintenance procedures, regulatory requirements, machines, equipment and systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to plan, organize and manage activities and people, and the ability to communicate effectively with and influence company managers, outside suppliers, governmental agencies, and other technical personnel.
