    Introduction

    The centerpiece of Killens Pond State Park, conveniently located in central Delaware, is the 66-acre millpond, which was established in the late 1700s. Before the pond was created, the Murderkill River and surrounding hardwood forest were sites of several Native American homes and hunting camps. Killens Pond became a state park in 1965.

    Summary Statement

    A variety of seasonal park positions may be available at Killens Pond State Park:

  • Waterpark Revenue Attendant ($13.25) - responsible for all aspects of customer service, filling out start-up and close-out paperwork, completing opening and closing procedures of the fee booth.
  • Park Maintenance ($14.00) - responsible for the assisting maintenance staff with all aspects of maintaining the park grounds and its facilities.
  • Boat Rental Attendant ($13.25) responsible for all aspects of customer service, using software to rent boats, assist visitors with kayaks, canoes, and peddle boats in and out of the water. Responsible for opening and closing procedures. Must complete and pass a Basic Water Safety Course.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.

    Essential Functions

  • May register campers into computer database and generate reports as needed.
  • May assist with maintenance and rental equipment.
  • Cleaning of cabins inside and out, cleaning firepits, reporting any repairs.
  • Cleaning of the bathhouse at the campground May assist with maintenance and rental equipment.
  • Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
  • Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Duties will vary for each position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Job Requirements

    Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

    Waterpark Revenue Attendant

    1.Knowledge of working with money and making change.

    2.Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.

    Park Maintenance

    1.Must be at least 18 years of age.

    2.Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools.

    3.Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.

    Boat Rental Attendant

    1.Knowledge of working with money and making change.

    2.Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.

    This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
