    Description


    Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based medical treatment to help maintain or improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.


    Essential Functions:



    • Facilitate didactic and therapeutic groups with focus on Marriage and Family development and document for each patient in attendance.
    • Encourage patients to express their thoughts and emotions openly to identify actions that activate anger or scenarios where high emotions are common.
    • Teach patients about those things that activate anger reactions and educate them on how to avoid high emotions are common.
    • Provide clinical treatment planning, treatment referral, and continued care/aftercare planning to assign patients and document same in the patient charts.
    • Maintain assigned patient charts in a manner which meets Haymarket Center's Quality Assurance standards and is clear in its documentation of patient's progress in treatment.
    • Provide crisis intervention as required and follow-up clinical assessment with patient(s) involved to determine need for appropriate clinical course of action.
    • Attend patient staffing/inventions and document outcomes in patient chart.
    • Meet weekly with supervisor or designee for clinical supervision.
    • Seeks further supervision when appropriate and necessary.
    • Complete Progress Reports for referral sources and key stakeholders.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Requirements


    Education, Experience, and Skills Required


    • Working knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, and techniques and opportunities for recreational therapist to collaborate with other health professionals.
    • Knowledgeable of Psychological and substance use disorders
    • Licensed Clinical Professional required; LCSW, Psy.
    D preferred


    • Have strong documentation skills; this position requires extensive documentation of required activities, strong data entry skills are also required
