    Finance Manager Job Summary

    The Finance Manager assists the Director of Finance in overseeing finance operations for the Armour College of Engineering, including budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and general ledgers. This role coordinates various activities to ensure efficient financial planning and implementation of strategic fiscal initiatives.

    Main Responsibilities:

    The Finance Manager will assist in developing the College's Operating and Auxiliary budgets, review and verify budget and approve reimbursements, check requisitions.

    Process payroll forms for undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and other research personnel under both university and external research grant funding, process graduate student stipend and tuition payment on both departmental and research accounting.

    Work closely with Grants Administrator and principal investigators to administer existing research grants, confer as needed to problem solve issues in the accounts.

    Monitor financial account transactions for research and discretionary faculty accounts, review and reconcile discrepancies, variances, and deficits; ensures expenditures are posted properly.

    Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with budget or accounting, preferably in higher education or related setting, is required. Knowledge of budgeting concepts, policies, and regulations for financial management is essential.

    Other key skills include superior organization, planning, and account management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment. Good writing skills and excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills are also necessary.

    The successful candidate will have the ability to use all normal office equipment and spend 6–8 hours per day at the computer. Routine travel between engineering departments and laboratories may be necessary.
