Job Overview
We are seeking a experienced Automotive Service Advisor/Shop Foreman to lead our service department . In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, guiding them through their vehicle maintenance and repair needs while overseeing daily shop operations. Your energetic approach will ensure a seamless customer experience, from initial consultation to service completion, while managing a team of skilled technicians. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine customer service excellence with technical leadership, driving both satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, listen attentively to their vehicle concerns, and clearly communicate repair recommendations.
- Prepare detailed auto estimates using automotive diagnostics tools and auto estimating software, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, brake repairs, suspension work, shocks & struts, transmissions, diesel engine repairs, and auto body repairs to maximize customer value.
- Manage the workflow of the service department by assigning tasks to technicians based on their expertise in areas like mechanical knowledge, automotive repair, air brake systems, and alignment services.
- Oversee vehicle inspections and diagnostics to accurately identify issues related to transmissions, suspensions, brakes, or other automotive systems.
- Ensure all service writing is thorough and compliant with dealership standards; handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently.
- Lead the shop team by providing guidance on mechanic procedures and maintaining high standards of automotive service quality.
- Foster excellent customer relationships through attentive service writing and proactive communication about vehicle status and recommended repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols; monitor inventory levels for parts such as tires, shocks & struts, brake components, and other essential supplies.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience in auto service management or as a service technician with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong background in automotive diagnostics and repair across various systems including transmissions, air brakes, suspensions, alignments, tire services, oil changes, and diesel engines.
- Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and effective sales techniques related to automobile sales and service writing.
- Excellent customer service skills with a knack for clear communication and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
- Mechanical knowledge of automobile systems combined with hands-on experience in automotive repair is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
