    Controls Engineer

    Location:
    Onsite - Stanton, Tennessee or Glendale, Kentucky (Relocation package is available)

    Pay Rate

    – Negotiable depending on DIRECT-related experience

    Position Overview:


    As a Controls Engineer, you will have a rare and exciting opportunity to be a pivotal member of the start-up team, actively involved in launching our state-of-the-art facility from the ground up.


    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Use MES Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation.
    • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems.
    • Lead 4D efforts during significant downtime events.
    • Update program backups for automation.
    • Program new installations of tooling and conveyor systems.
    • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements.
    • Coordinate automation campaigns.

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or high school GED diploma with equivalent experience and skills.
    • 2+ years of related experience.
    • Mitsubishi PLC/HMI/VFD/SERVO/MOTION experience (asset, but not mandatory, training provided).
    • PLC/MBI, robotics programming experience.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement in quality and delivery.
    • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret, and modify electrical schematics.
    • Strong understanding of conveyor system programming and networking (Ethernet, remote IO).

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls.
    • Electrical background as an electrician or technician.
    • Related experience with familiarity with Variable Frequency Devices (VFDs), encoders, Servo, and network/Ethernet controls.
    • Ability to support any shift in a 7-day work pattern.
    • Flexibility for significant travel during the initial plant start-up phase.
