    Join Our Team as an Assistant National Fuels Program Manager at National Park Service

    Are you passionate about fuels management and wildfire risk reduction? We are looking for a dedicated individual to serve as the assistant to the national fuels program manager at the National Park Service. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise and support the implementation of critical fuels management programs.

    Duties:

    • Serve as the assistant to the national fuels program manager providing specialized technical expertise in fuels program planning and implementation.
    • Advise leadership and staff at the national, regional, and field level on fuels management policies and implementation procedures.
    • Review existing agency and bureau policies to evaluate effectiveness in meeting wildland fire and aviation management mission objectives.
    • Assist in the formulation of annual fuels management program budgets.
    • Contribute to the development of long-term strategies addressing wildfire risk through the NPS Fuels management program.
    • Conduct oversight and accountability review studies for national/regional/field wildland fire and aviation programs.
    • Implement and recommend changes in operating procedures or programs to increase effectiveness.
    • Provide support to field units by analyzing treatment options and impacts.
    • Develop accomplishment reports for distribution internally and to other Bureaus.
    • Represent the National Park Service in Interagency committees and work groups.
    • May serve as the national duty officer, coordinating NPS resource needs and communicating NPS wildfire status updates.
    • Provide briefings to Bureau and Regional level leadership.
    • Work in cooperation with research and natural and cultural resource management staff to achieve management objectives.

    Requirements:

    • U.S. Citizenship is required.
