    Job Description:

    We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon to join our team on a locum basis, providing coverage for 2 weekends per month.

    As a Locum Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive reconstructive surgical care to patients in need.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Patient Consultations:
    Conduct thorough consultations with patients to understand their reconstructive needs and discuss treatment options

    Surgical Procedures:
    Perform a variety of reconstructive surgical procedures including, but not limited to, breast reconstruction, skin cancer excisions and reconstructions, complex wound repairs, microsurgery, and facial trauma reconstruction

    Preoperative Assessment:
    Evaluate patients prior to surgery, ensuring they are medically optimized for the procedure and addressing any concerns or risk factors

    Postoperative Care:
    Provide diligent postoperative care to patients, monitoring their progress, managing any complications, and ensuring optimal outcomes

    Collaboration:
    Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals including oncologists, dermatologists, general surgeons, and allied health staff to provide comprehensive care to patients

    Documentation:
    Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting all patient encounters, procedures performed, and treatment plans

    Education and Training:
    Provide education and support to patients and their families, explaining procedures, risks, and expected outcomes. Additionally, contribute to the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows as appropriate.


    Quality Improvement:
    Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and outcomes within the department

    Inpatient OnlyStrong OR and specialist support (trauma, neurosurgery, general surgery, etc)

    No ICU DutiesWill not respond to codesEPIC EHRProcedures:

    Complex facial trauma reconstruction, both soft tissue and skeletal (full face upper, mid face and mandible, coverage of cranial defects), both adult and pediatricComplex upper extremity trauma reconstruction including soft tissue (tendon, peripheral nerve, and vascular below the elbow, and burns) and skeletal, both adult and pediatric.

    Complex lower extremity soft tissue reconstruction, adult and pediatric.

    General plastic and reconstructive surgery, breast and bodyComplex upper extremity trauma reconstruction and skeletal (distal radius, wrist and hand), both adult and pediatricRequirements:
    Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
    Board certification or eligibility in Plastic Surgery.
    Valid NC state medical license or willing to obtain and DEA registration.
    Proven experience in reconstructive plastic surgery, with expertise in a wide range of reconstructive procedures.
    Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
