    Description

    Job Summary

    This part-time faculty position involves assisting in the instruction of first-year and second-year dental hygiene students during clinical sessions, verifying patient treatment needs, and prescribing medications. The Clinical Dentist/Instructor will also create a learning environment that fosters active communication with students and patients.

    Responsibilities

    • Clinical Instruction: Provides clinical direction to students, critiques their performance, and maintains records of clinical assessments and competencies.
    • Program Coordination: Attends meetings to stay updated on program calibration and provides feedback on clinical education.
    • Continuing Education: Participates in continuing education functions to stay current with educational advancements.
    • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by the Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator.

    Requirements

    • Education: Graduate of an accredited dental school through the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
    • Experience: Minimum of five years of work experience in clinical practice as a dentist.
    • Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners.
    • Skills: Strong organizational and writing skills, excellent advising/counseling skills, and proficiency in dental software.
