    Description
    The HR Generalist provides administrative support to the Human Resource department. The position will assist with all aspects of the hiring process, including interviews and onboarding. An ideal candidate will be able to engage with employees and foster a positive work environment. Successful candidate will have open communication, creativity and possess excellent phone skills and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to work independently and exercise good judgment while maintaining confidentiality.

    Responsible to:
    Director of People and Culture

    Objective:

    Under the supervision of the Director of People and Culture, this position carries out personnel matters, including everything from vetting applicants through the hiring process, onboarding and training.


    Duties:
    Treat participants/residents with dignity and respect.
    Help foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
    Maintain open communication with Director of People and Culture.
    Post job openings agency-wide and with other approved agencies.
    Draft employment advertisements for Director of People and Culture to review and approve as assigned.
    Handle phone, and electronic inquiries regarding job openings.
    Screen applicants and maintain applicant tracking systems.
    Schedule and conduct interview and orientations as assigned.
    Perform authorized reference checks, background checks and gather information as needed to process job applications.
    Assist in coordinating applicant's pre-employment paperwork and setting up orientations with appropriate departments.
    Conduct HR follow up meetings with employees in a timely manner and share information gathered with appropriate personnel.
    Prepare new employee files and complete initial paperwork with new employees as assigned.
    Assist in preparation of correspondence to applicants and employees.
    Assist with insurance notices for newly eligible/newly enrolled to insurance plans.
    Communicate with applicants in a positive and professional manner (inbound and outbound calls).
    Assist in coordinating applicant's pre-employment paperwork and setting up orientations with appropriate departments.
    Conduct HR follow up meetings with employees in a timely manner and share information gathered with appropriate personnel.
    Assist in maintaining employee files.
    Assign and maintain employee badges in a timely manner.
    Write the wellness newsletter with creativity on approved topics.
    Enter data into software used by HR with accuracy.
    Special projects as assigned.
    Assist with day-to-day operation of Human Resources.
    Maintain regular attendance.
    Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies.
    Other duties as assigned


    Qualifications:

    Knowledge and Abilities:
    Knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices involved in the human resources field
    Ability to exercise discretion
    Ability to promote a positive image when dealing with the public
    Ability to express oneself well, both verbally and in written form
    Ability to prioritize and conduct business matters with excellent interpersonal skills
    Ability to work with people in all levels of the organization

    Ability to use computer to navigate and enter information into web-based software and perform basic functions related to computer use.

    (i.e. keyboarding, email, data entry) including Microsoft office suite, publisher and HR software
    Ability to meet employment requirements (i.e. Pre-Health Certification, TB test)
    Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of Empowering Abilities


    Training and Experience:
    Related associates degree required or 3 to 5 years verifiable work experience in human resources in place of degree
    Previous work experience in human resources preferred
