****Job Summary****

The Purdue Applied Research Institute is pleased to announce the growth of its government research. With that comes an opportunity in our Research Security department for a new Director of Research Security/Facility Security Officer. To support our research program, we are looking for someone to manage a team that provides security service to Purdue and PARI.

This position will be an Industrial Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) and act as the Facility Security Officer (FSO). The role will be responsible for developing and overseeing our industrial security program operations security. It will ensure that all DOD and government programs follow relevant policies and procedures. The person will be responsible for standardizing processes where possible and strategizing on implementing a consistent program across geographic boundaries. This individual will engage and support cross-functional projects as necessary to proliferate best practices and encourage collaboration.

A current top-secret clearance with the ability to obtain special access is required.

****Primary Job Responsibilities****

Oversees development and implementation of PARI's Security program, including but not limited to Industrial Security, Operations Security, Insider Threat

Create, implement, and manage procedures and controls to ensure compliance with government and university regulations/requirements on large and/or complex programs.

Oversees implementation of a security awareness, training and education program to educate, refresh, and motivate personnel to protect people, property, and information.

Acts as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) for PARI and the University and must be able to work onsite

Oversight of Internal Security Controls through performance of compliance assessment reviews and self-inspections to ensure compliance with government and university regulations/requirements

Mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand the capabilities of employees

Provides ongoing developmental feedback

Promotes employee recognition and builds a departmental culture that improves employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforce

Conveys organizational messages and facilitates the accomplishment of departmental goals

Proactively communicates with employees, peers, and customers

Keeps others informed by communicating program or project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations, and listening to employee concerns and suggestions

Implements strategies to improve open and honest communication within the department and business area

Communicate policies and directives to enhance employee awareness and clarify expectations.

Establishes partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports

Improves processes to achieve goals.

Enforces PARI and university rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of university property, time charging, etc.

Creates a culture of continuous improvement

Charter process improvement teams and modifies departmental structures to improve operating effectiveness. Identifies opportunities to improve department processes

Supports new business proposals and opportunities

Participate in the insider threat program, Defense and Counter Intelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and yearly inspections

Other duties as assigned

****Required Education, Experience, and Skills****

Bachelor's Degree and at least twelve (12) years of relevant work experience such as Industrial Security, Operations Security, Insider Threat or related

Clearance Requirement: Current Top Secret / SCI with FS Polygraph

Knowledge and experience managing all levels of classified programs

Knowledge and Experience with ICD 705, NISPOM, and SAPs

Experience with managing SCIF and other Secure Areas.

Excellent computer skills and experience with security systems such as SIMS, DISS, NISS, etc.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Excellent decision-making and reasoning skills.

Proven leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Ability to work with little oversight and as a member of a team

Working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual and Intelligence Community Directives

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

Familiarity with multiple DOD Agencies.

Working knowledge of RMF and DFARS.

Professional certification (e.g., ISP, CPP, etc.)
