    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dosimetrist - Radiation Oncology - Mineola.

    In this role, the successful candidate Provides operational therapeutic radiological physics services as prescribed by the chief physicist of the Department of Radiation Oncology.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Assembles patient data required for treatment planning and dose calculations. Imports studies in a timely manner. Reviews simulation data and verifies treatment parameters. Checks that radiation prescriptions are complete and signed by the radiation oncologist.
    • Operates treatment planning software. Understands the basic operation of all treatment planning systems.
    • Computes accelerator monitor unit settings. Computes beam-on-time settings accurately using appropriate data. Computes MU for SAD, SSD, and electron beams.
    • Computes brachytherapy treatment times. Verifies total high dose rate dwell times. Verifies total dose rate for low dose temporary implants. Verifies total activity of seed implants using the nomogram.
    • Performs periodic checks of treatment records. Correctly performs weekly physics chart checks according to departmental procedure.
    • Performs quality assurance tasks as assigned. Performs quality assurance of treatment planning systems. Performs assigned quality assurance tasks accurately and thoroughly.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Graduate of RTT (Radiation Therapy Technologist) program or Bachelor's degree in Physics or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical dosimetrist or certification by the MDCB (in lieu of the 3 years of experience requirement)..

    Required Licenses: Certified Medical Dosimetrists

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) is preferred.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $104, $174,925.32 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
