    Behavior Technician


    Overview:


    The DCSD Behavior Technician is trained in behavior techniques that complement the skills of experts like Autism Specialists and Behavior Specialists. It's an entry-level role demanding education and training matching the duties.

    Those with the DCSD Behavior Technician (BT) credential follow behavior and intervention plans outlined by higher-level supervisors. Their expertise surpasses that of a Behavior Coach or EA-IV.

    They engage with DCSD staff at a level beyond an EA-IV rate to enhance community relations across the district and with clientele.



    Physical Requirements:

    • Occasional lifting 50 to 70 pounds
    • Frequent bending, standing, sitting, walking; occasional reaching, kneeling
    ● Must obtain necessary certifications, such as CPI certification.


    Duties:
    • Offer guidance to special education staff on implementing skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans.
    • Provide advanced plan fidelity modeling to school teams.

    • Support school staff and students with individualized behavioral techniques and create instructional materials.

    • Coach how to provide tailored support to students through direct intervention.
    • Assist in interventions and structures design and delivery.
    • Attend meetings and collaborate professionally with stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in research-based interventions like Applied Behavior Analysis.



    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    • Collect and report student data in collaboration with specialists.
