- Calculate and procure materials according to customer demand and company financial strategy.
- Process purchase orders (POs) accurately and promptly to ensure smooth transactions and efficient procurement.
- Follow-up on expected delivery dates and ensure timely and effective communication to stakeholders about any potential disruptions to the flow of materials
- Assist in the creation of work orders and production packets
- Establish and upkeep effective processes for managing inventory (kanban, min/max, PFEP, etc.)
- Negotiate and maintain effective vendor pricing and stocking agreements (VMI, kanban, etc.) and maintain and communicate vendor scorecards
- Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier diversification, and strategic sourcing initiatives within the supply chain.
- Create a robust network of suppliers with appropriate redundancy and contingency plans
- Be an expert at establishing and working with overseas vendors
- Search out and establish new vendors and new materials as necessary
- Respond to and facilitate the resolution of vendor quality issues and improvement projects
- Manage, track, resolve, and escalate any issues or opportunities for all stages of a Purchase Order: scheduled, confirmed, unconfirmed/unscheduled, past due, and post-delivery.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and assist with inventory audits.
- Continually cross-train on all department processes
- Learn, adhere to, and apply Lean Manufacturing principles and procedures
- Submit and implement ideas to eliminate waste and improve processes
- Participate in improvement activities such as kaizen events, special projects, etc.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition at all times (5S)
- Follow all safety procedures and standards at all times
- Maintain daily progress boards and charts
- 3-5 years relevant experience
