    Overview

    Job Summary

    Serves as the clinical resource and consultant for patients with specific disorders of certain body systems. Provides specialized care for patients with various wounds, diversions, and incontinence conditions.



    Essential Functions

    • Assesses and plans care and education for patients requiring ostomy and wound care.
    • Identifies interventions for skin conditions and ostomies.
    • Assists with preoperative procedures, patient/family teaching, and follow-up care.
    • Evaluates patients at risk for skin breakdown and complex wound management.
    • Collaborates with medical team for prevention and treatment of ulcers and wounds.
    • Evaluates effectiveness of interventions for patients requiring special care.
    • Develops evidence-based guidelines for care.
    Physical Requirements
    Requires various physical activities and the ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds. Must have good communication skills and sensory abilities. Critical thinking and quick responsiveness to changes are essential. Physical Abilities Testing is mandatory.



    Education, Experience and Certifications

    Must be a graduate from a Nursing School with current RN license. Baccalaureate degree required, MSN preferred. Certification in wound and ostomy care necessary. Previous direct care nursing experience, BLS certification, and ongoing education may be required.
