    POSITION #091-CLS-05-24:

    Assistant Secretary

    Valley Academy of Learning

    6.0 hour per day/211 days per year

    Salary:
    $ $22.90 per hour





    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Under the direction of the Program Administrator provides support to insure efficient operation of the school and enhance the effectiveness of the school programs. Provide secretarial services for the school office. Establishes and maintains files and reports on student registration, attendance and other information as required by the district. Answers telephone, distributes mail and other printed materials to appropriate staff. Prepares correspondence, memoranda, bulletins, data tabulations and required district forms efficiently and accurately. Prepares materials for distribution to students. Provides information and receptionist services. Provides information to parents regarding school rules, regulations and provides initial screening to all individuals and groups who enter the school. Works in close contact with parent and community groups in school-related matters. Coordinates outgoing and incoming communications to community and staff. Administers first aid to students as needed. Coordinates medical aid with parents and professional medical personnel. Assists in providing school fiscal data. Assists in accounting for monies received for lunches and school events and maintains financial records as necessary in coordination with the business. Performs required duties for monthly count days including ALE report. Assists in scheduling for schoolwide spring testing sessions. Assists in preparing on-site class schedules. Track and report student and staff absences. Assists in scheduling WSLP meetings between staff and parents. Maintains financial records as necessary in coordination with the business office. Assists in maintaining all documentation required in WAC in accordance with established records retention schedules and must make such documentation available upon request for purposes of state monitoring and audit. Other related duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS: Secretarial/clerical experience of at least two years preferred. Must possess excellent telephone, recordkeeping, grammar, spelling and punctuation skills. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Excellent computer/data entry skills, with the ability to type 60 wpm. Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain. High school graduate or equivalent required. Familiarity with student curriculum used in an alternative setting required. Familiarity with the student curriculum tracking system used at Valley Academy preferred. Familiarity with Skyward preferred. Familiarity with submitting credit card statements preferred. Requires prolonged sitting. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

    BENEFITS:

    Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

    Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.


    260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

    Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

    Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.

    The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.


    Disclosure Statement and Record Check:

    Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law.

    In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
