Job summary
Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens from newborn pediatric adult patients according to established protocol Obtains medical assistance when judged necessary Performs limited testing under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments CLIA guidelines according to established policies procedures Answers screens telephone calls Assists with inventory maintains supplies equipment Provides assistance in support of Billing other business functions Accepts specimens from variety internal external customers Receives sorts specimens Packages tracks specimens for transport Processes specimens for testing including aliquoting pre-analytical steps loading instruments while maintaining proper specimen identification Responds additional specimen procurement requests via pager means Orders verifies test requests Documents appropriate information quality assurance improvement established protocol Runs quality control checks Takes action notify providers stat critical abnormal results defined policy procedure Performs laboratory result entry computer system Performs internal external proficiency testing same manner patient samples Reviews various pending management reports Generates distributes reports Instructs employees students phlebotomy data entry specimen processing functions Must demonstrate knowledge skills necessary provide care appropriate age patients served
