    Position Overview

    The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Administrator I for the Mabley Developmental Center located in Dixon, Illinois to plan, direct, guide and evaluate the activities and services of subordinate staff on an assigned shift in the implementation of training, care and treatment services for intellectually disabled individuals. Serves as working supervisor. Makes rounds, attends off site training and meetings. Monitors implementation of programming, evaluating each plan's effectiveness. Assigns, directs and supervises staff regarding these plans and follows up with appropriate personnel until problems/difficulties encountered by program staff are resolved. Provides direction and guidance with regards to behavioral problems. Implements, directs, supervises and monitors disciplinary action for the residential department. Directly participates in the program plan processes at the center. Implements policy and procedures at Mabley that demonstrate compliance with the Department of Public Health (DPH) and other regulatory policies, standards and regulations. Provides services to other residential units to meet day-to-day operating needs. Utilizes manual communication skills with individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.

    Job Responsibilities

    1. Serves as Living Unit Administrator for the Mabley Developmental Center.
    2. Serves as working supervisor.
    3. Monitors implementation of Programming, evaluating each plan's effectiveness.
    4. Develops and implements quality assurance reviews associated with those processes and forms related to the provision of services to individuals, conferring with supervisors and professional staff concerning recommended changes/revisions.
    5. Plans, develops and implements in service training programs, confirming documentation is completed and forwarded to staff development for the record.
    6. Utilizes sign language to manually communicate with individuals who are hearing impaired.
    7. Verifies all physical plan, safety/sanitation problems/issues are addressed.
    8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (1) a master's degree in administration, education or the behavioral sciences and successful completion of a comprehensive training program at the Mental Health Administrator Trainee level or (2) three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in or applicable to the provision of therapeutic patient services for persons with mental illness or intellectual disabilities or (3) three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment and development of persons with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.
    2. Requires the ability to communicate in sign language at a novice skill level.

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Three (3) years of professional experience directing and guiding the activities and services of a direct care program for intellectually disabled individuals for a public or private organization.
    2. Three (3) years of professional experience monitoring implementation of programs, evaluating the plans effectiveness.
    3. Three (3) years of professional experience developing and implementing policy impacting services for a public or private organization.
    4. Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and training to staff.
    5. Three (3) years of professional experience developing and implementing quality assurance reviews for a public or private organization.
    6. Three (3) years of experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

    Conditions of Employment

    1. Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
    2. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
    3. Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis.
    4. Requires the ability to participate in administrator-on-duty responsibilities on a rotating basis.
    5. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
    6. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
    7. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
    8. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
    9. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois

    Work Hours: 2:30pm-11:00pm Mon-Fri; 1-2 times a month works the weekend, will work holidays as assigned
