    Description

    Spine Institute of Central Florida is a busy, fast paced Orthopaedic Spine Surgery practice. We specialize in the entire spectrum of non-surgical and surgical care of the spine. Physician Assistants at our practice are highly specialized, detail oriented, well trained, providing the highest level of care both surgically and non-surgically under the supervision of our 3 fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeons.

    PA-C will perform comprehensive orthopaedic spine surgery exams, will order appropriate diagnostic imaging, interventional injections, and treatment plans under physician supervision. We employ a multidisciplinary team approach comprising of the best trained spine specialists working together to maximize recovery for our entire patient population.

    Essential Functions - Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Performs history and ortho physical exams, image reviews, post-operative visits
    • Surgical first assisting, hospital rounding, hospital consults
    • First assisting in our Ambulatory Surgical Center
    • Joint injections
    • Image reviews: MRIs, CT scans, Xrays, whole body bone scans
    • Works closely with Orthopaedic spine surgeons for imaging reviews, patient symptom discussions, medication issues, medical/surgical planning
    • Orders appropriate imaging and diagnostic studies
    • Interprets necessary pre-operative testing results, clearances, reports, labs, etc. and develops appropriate plan of care
    • Completes pre-operative review of all records
    • Must have basic knowledge of X-rays and imaging pertaining to spinal anatomy
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
    • Must possess current Florida PA-C license
    • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of HIPAA regulations
    • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Must have excellent time management skills
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of orthopedic, neurological and spinal anatomy and physiology and understand/perform the appropriate physical examination techniques for evaluation.
    • Pre- and post-operative patient management in a surgical setting.
    • Must have general pharmaceutical knowledge of common medications ordered for pre- and post-operative patient management: antibiotic therapy, pain management, post-op nausea, etc.
