Description

FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY: The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an APPLICATIONS ARCHITECT-ENT to independently employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in a particular field of specialization to plan, design, develop and support systems and projects. To conduct research and analysis and presents findings for review. To carry out complex assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.

Responsibilities:

Manages end to end from conception, through delivery, into production of integrations architectures.
Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions.
Leads the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of integration projects.
Oversees API, data integration and configuration plans, directs, and oversees the operations and fiscal health of the integrations team.
Oversees and leads the work of integrations team.
Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary: $104,045 – $169,075)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field and eight (8) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferred Skills: Demonstrable integration architecture experience (5+ years) across all Enterprise Architecture Layers Broad exposure to complex data, information, and technology environments Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of integration best practices A thorough understanding of cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, microservices and operational best practices in the cloud Ability to build end-to-end API delivery and ETL solutions. Experience in different API layers like security, custom analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications etc. using an API management platform. Knowledge about API design standards, patterns, and best-practices especially Swagger and OpenAPI 3.0, REST, SOAP, MQ, JSON, Microservices etc. Knowledge of authentication, authorization of services via OAuth 2 Experience with CI/CD Tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub) Significant understanding of Microservice patterns concepts its application in problem solving Hands on expertise in ETL process management and the modern data stack.
