    What you'll do


    As the Quality Manager for Utilimaster (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our facility in Kansas City, MO, you will enjoy leading and providing guidance to the supplier and quality teams to meet internal and external monthly KPIs as well as establishing and maintaining professional relationships between the company and our supply base.


    You will also:
    Manage the Supplier Quality team and examine supplier capabilities
    Assist with mentoring quality associates and foster positive team collaboration
    Maintain, monitor, and improve supplier quality metrics in partnership with Supply Chain Management
    Assist supply chain management with Supplier Quality
    Enhance and standardize processes, communications, and technology that affect Supplier Quality
    Update and improve internal supplier quality documentation
    Make decisions regarding the completeness, quality, and accuracy of supplier documentation
    Request, receive, review, and make improvements to supplier quality documentation
    Support and participate in the supplier selection process (SET)
    Oversee the monitoring and measurement process (SPARC) and corrective action processes (CART, PSR, SCAR)
    Examine data and utilize formal problem-solving methodologies and tools
    Conduct internal and supplier quality system audits and follow the ISO 9001 standard
    Participate in the corrective action process to monitor, verify, and close actions
    Support internal quality containment activities related to supplier issues
    Collaborate with project teams to define project deliverables and for project planning
    Manage the internal PPAP system and adapt automotive concepts to add value
    Act as the primary liaison with suppliers and engineering on APQP projects
    Ensure suppliers are on track and capable of

    new launches
    Create and provide technical training to new and less experienced associates
    Train and facilitate the training of new associates in all aspects of their job function
    Aid with hiring, performance management, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary processes
    Manage vacation and timecard approvals, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training
    Coach and discipline your team, instill motivation, and resolve personnel issues
    Maintain a high degree of visibility and access to associates
    Communicate cross-functionally to resolve issues and ensure goals are met

    What you need to be successful
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field
    Four or more (4+) years of supplier quality engineering and product quality engineering expertise plus one or more (1+) supervisory or above experience
    A proven understanding of engineering principles and quality tools and methods such as Control Plans, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, 8D, SPC, and Six Sigma
    ASQ or CMQ certification (Preferred)
    Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 standards and auditing
    Experienced in personnel management
    Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
    Familiarity with Minitab or related data analysis tool
    Strong communication and leadership skills
