Duties


The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Spring, Colorado is searching for a Deputy Program Manager for Kronos to support SYD 85 (NH , GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:

The primary purpose of this position is: To be lead deputy program manager for the Advanced Space Battle Management Program, known as Kronos. This position uses critical thinking and acquisition experience to ensure rapid commercial innovation and integration with the Space Force's premier Space Battle Management and Operational Command and Control System. With very limited supervision, applies acquisition knowledge of software programs to execute up to 12 Other Transaction agreements yearly. Is assigned difficult tasks with unclear solutions and is required to garner support from multiple stakeholders to ensure success. Is the link between senior level acquisition officials for a diverse portfolio and the staff located in multiple geographic locations.

Ideal Candidate:

Top Secret Clearance; Familiar with Software programs, challenges, interfaces, architecture, and stakeholders; Master's degree in science, engineering, or business management; Program Management DAWIA Certification (Practitioner) is desired but not required.

Key Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.

4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.

5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

Requirements


Conditions of employment

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use, IAW AFI
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • Subject to TDY: 20 days a year.
  • This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP).
