- Bills of Materials
- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, Associate degree or equivalent technical education
- Three (3) or more years of experience in substation design
- Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
- Experience filling the role of electrical designer for several substation projects occurring concurrently
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, tracking and organizing many tasks of varying importance and size
- Proven ability and desire to mentor and help others
- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
- Five (5) to eight (8) or more years of experience in substation design
- Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
- Professional Engineering license (PE)
- Experience managing people on a project team
- Experience with MicroStation (V8 or newer)

Power Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced, energetic, self-starting Substation Electrical Designer with a strong electrical engineering background to perform engineering activities for electrical substations. Classified as a Designer III or IV, this individual will work with our Substation design teams out of our Power Delivery Substation Department in our Richmond, Virginia office. A hybrid and/or in-office work environment is preferred. However, a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual's level of experience and proven ability to work remotely.
Responsibilities
The Substation Electrical Designer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. The Substation Electrical Designer is expected to support the Department Manager/Area Lead (DM/AL) in achieving the department's goals, maintaining POWER's high-quality standards, promoting internal teamwork, and meeting the needs of our clients. This position is also responsible for assisting with developing, maintaining, and strengthening client relationships within the region.
