    Description

    Position: Patient Care Associate

    Department: Cardiovascular ICU

    Shift: Nights / Part Time

    Overview:

    Under the guidance of the RN or LPN, assists in delivering personalized patient care to promote the patient's optimal well-being. Collaborates effectively with others as a team member; acknowledges the significance of collective objectives. Executes specific clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks crucial for delivering patient care.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program within high school, and/or a current Mercy employee.
    • Experience: None required
      • In Missouri: If lacking prior experience, completion of a mandatory 175-hour training program as per Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services guidelines will be provided by Mercy. This program forms part of the new employee orientation and must be finished within 90 days of hire to retain the PCA role as per state regulations.
    • Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire
    • Other: Minimum Physical Requirements
      • Role entails pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
      • Role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking during each shift
      • Role necessitates capabilities to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform tasks
    • Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
