The position involves planning, design, engineering, and construction for airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs.
Design work includes airfield planning, layout, and site design, earthwork analyses and design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design, pavement design and maintenance, construction safety and phasing, aircraft layouts and modeling, storm water management design, erosion and sediment control design, utility coordination and design, environmental permitting, and preparation of construction plans, specifications, schedules, design reports, and cost estimates.
Construction work includes construction administration and management including shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions, and construction inspection.The Aviation Engineering Group interacts with and is supported by many other in-house disciplines including Planners, Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical and Special Systems Engineers in typical projects supporting our airport clients.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Conducts civil engineering design for airport projects.
Completes designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and final working drawings for preparation of construction plans related to airport development projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, terminals, and other airport facilities.
Prepares design reports, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
Collects and analyzes data to support design and construction phases of projects
Uses various computer software for design development and prepares plans in Civil 3D.
Coordinates and collaborates with other airport/civil engineering, architectural, and engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, Utility companies, permitting agencies, contractors, government and regulatory agencies, and clients.
Serves as engineering Task Leader and conducts direct task supervision and mentorship of CAD Staff, Designers, and other Junior Engineers at the direction of the Project Manager.
Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule.
