- Perform the skilled repair and preventative maintenance required for all buildings, facilities, and mechanical/electrical support systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex HVAC control systems and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment and systems. Performs mechanical tasks to modify existing equipment, ensuring code compliance and energy efficiency.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
- Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
- Complete work orders to achieve the shortest downtime, and record action taken and time taken.
- Working knowledge of boiler systems.
- Safely use various hand and power tools.
- Troubleshoot HVAC issues using the appropriate testing equipment.
- Stock and inventory basic repair parts and emergency items.
- Install new or replacement motors, pumps, valves, compressors and other equipment.
- Understanding of advanced principles of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration.
- Keep assigned maintenance trucks/Vans and shop areas clean and orderly and tools organized. Report damages or losses in an appropriate, timely manner.
- Remove snow from building drives, parking lots, walkways, and designated areas.
- Accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Associate Director of Facilities, Chief Operating Officer, and Superintendent to improve services to the students and patrons of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.
- Troubleshoot control circuitry for heat pumps, variable air volume units, air handling units, and refrigeration equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot mechanical components and repair or replace compressors, thermal expansion valves, cap tubes, condensers, and evaporators.
- Understand the complete refrigeration cycle and how it relates to equipment.
- Must possess a minimum of (5) years' experience as a skilled level HVAC Technician in the commercial, industrial or maintenance level of the HVAC industry and/or have a Universal EPA Certification.
- Excellent work habits, attendance record and successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
- Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

Summary:
Perform the duties as required to ensure that all facilities, grounds, and equipment are maintained in good working order by providing electrical, mechanical, preventative, and general maintenance.
Work with the administrators on scheduling parameters and maintain the HVAC and scheduling equipment so that the equipment functions properly to conserve energy.
