    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate analysis of patient samples utilizing moderately to highly complex methods.

    Responsibilities include specimen identification and accessioning in the Laboratory Information System, viral culture, direct antigen testing and nucleic acid amplification testing.

    Candidates must be detail oriented, able to work independently and possess strong organizational skills.

    He/ She is also responsible for routine maintenance of lab instruments/ equipment, routine quality control and adherence to all lab policies.


    TYPICAL DUTIES:
    Set up and processing of samples for Microbiology testing.

    Testing of patient samples using cell culture and rapid EIA techniques, detection of chlamydial, viral and bacterial DNA using amplification methods; sorting and organizing patient samples for testing and storage; adherence to quality control and quality assurance protocols; reporting results of testing via LIS/ instrument interface, as well as manual data entry; answering telephone inquiries; maintaining laboratory stock of kits/ reagents; performing daily/ weekly/ monthly preventative maintenance on lab equipment; participating in training of technologists.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS in Medical Technology with clinical laboratory experience or NYS licensed Medical Technologist.

    Minimum requirements :


    • BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Microbiology.
    • New York State License application for Medical Technologist or Medical Technician required to be completed upon hiring.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range:
    $ $ 40.95 Hourly

    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.

    Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
