    Job Summary:


    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cannabis Compliance Specialist to ensure our organization's adherence to all relevant regulations and standards in the rapidly evolving cannabis industry.

    The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of local, state, and federal cannabis regulations, demonstrate excellent analytical skills, and be adept at interpreting complex compliance requirements.

    The Cannabis Compliance Specialist will collaborate with various departments to establish and maintain effective compliance programs, conduct regular audits, and provide guidance to ensure the organization operates within legal parameters.


    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Regulatory Research and Analysis:
    Stay current with local, state, and federal cannabis regulations and industry best practices
    Conduct in-depth analysis of regulatory changes and communicate the impact on the organization


    Policy Development:
    Collaborate with legal and operational teams to develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures
    Ensure that policies align with current regulations and industry standards


    Training and Education:
    Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees, fostering a culture of compliance awareness
    Provide ongoing education to staff regarding changes in regulations and compliance requirements


    Compliance Audits:
    Plan and execute regular compliance audits to assess adherence to established policies and procedures
    Compile audit findings and collaborate with relevant departments to address identified issues promptly


    Documentation and Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance-related activities, reports, and documentation
    Prepare and submit required regulatory reports in a timely manner


    Internal Collaboration:
    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, legal, and quality assurance, to address compliance concerns and implement corrective actions
    Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and facilitate inspections or inquiries


    Risk Assessment:
    Conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks
    Advise management on the potential impact of regulatory changes on business operations


    Required Skills/Abilities:
    Meticulous attention to detail - must be able to transcribe numerical data, label inventory, and review/verify product labeling and with a very high degree of accuracy
    Strong organizational skills - experience with physical and/or digital recordkeeping (file management) strongly preferred
    Strong written and verbal communication skills - must be able to both follow and provide instructions and ask questions as necessary to fulfill roles and expectations
    Results-driven and task-oriented - able to exhibit strong task management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced production environment
    Must be quickly adaptable and open to change
    General prior knowledge of workplace health and safety standards
    In-depth knowledge of cannabis regulations at the local, state, and federal levels
    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements
    Prior experience with METRC seed-to-sale tracking software
    Must have reliable transportation


    Education and Experience:
    HS Diploma or GED
    2+ years' compliance experience in highly regulated industry
    2+ years' experience working in cannabis compliance
    METRC experience required
    Specific experience in cannabis cultivation/manufacturing operations strongly preferred
    Experience leading inspections and audits and completing corrective action plans
    Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite - must be comfortable reading, comprehending, and editing spreadsheets, SOPs, and other technical documents
    Prior inventory management experience - preferred
    Prior experience enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
    Prior experience reading and understanding certificates of analysis (COAs) - preferred
