    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Child Life Manager, the Child Life Tech will collaborate with the Child Life Department to provide technical support and updates for the Child Life Department's play-based technology in pediatric areas, as well as manage and implement developmentally appropriate play-based interactions, gaming, and technology interventions, both in-person and virtually, for pediatric patients, siblings, and family members to enhance normalization and positive coping. The Child Life Tech will also be responsible developing, implementing, evaluating, and logging technology, donations, and play-based item availability and needs for the Child Life Department. The Child Life Tech will enhance the quality of patient care through play and gaming experiences, documentation, and communication with the health care team. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

    Qualifications:

    (Minimum education, training and experience, licensure, certification)

    • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Human Development, Education, Medical or related field preferred.
    • 1-year experience working with children and families in a typical, normalized setting (daycares, schools, camps, or other related setting).
    • 1-year experience working children and families in the hospital setting or during stressful situations is preferred (specialized camps, non-profit, or other related setting).
    • Knowledge and skills in Apple and Window-Based Devices, as well as gaming systems.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).

    The Essential Functions:

    (Core Functions - 75% of time spent)

    • The Child Life Tech responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, update, and repair child life gaming and technology systems and related peripheral equipment, collaborating with other entities for effective implementation of patient centered technology.
    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and log technology, donations, and play-based item availability and needs for the Child Life Department.
    • Enter data into EPIC. EPIC experience not required, will train upon hire.
    • Create and facilitate developmentally appropriate play, event, and gaming opportunities, both in-person and virtually.
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, such as cleaning play items, organizing department areas, and other tasks assigned to ensure resources are available for the department.
