    Description

    Job Title: CNC Machining Supervisor

    This position oversees the daily activities of the machine shop, ensuring efficient and accurate production of parts. The incumbent will lead the development of machined part fabrication, establish staff performance goals, and monitor individual part machining processes for quality and efficiency improvements.

    The CNC Machining Supervisor will propose technical improvements to advance capability and capacity, provide training and guidance to shop personnel, and ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Strong leadership skills and experience in machining, programming, and inspection are essential for this role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of machined part fabrication, including materials, tooling, programming, simulation, layout, setup, execution, and inspection.
    • Oversee daily activities of department machinists, ensuring output aligns with schedules.
    • Establish and monitor staff performance goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, conduct annual performance appraisals, and manage performance issues.
    • Review and monitor individual part machining processes, proposing refinements for quality, efficiency, ergonomics, and continuity improvements.
    • Leverage quick-change solutions for efficient and accurate setups.
    • Design machine and general fixtures within CAD to aid fabrication processes.
    • Establish speed and feed rates to optimize the machining process.
    • Fabricate, repair, and assemble plastic/metal parts using mechanical equipment.
    • Oversee machine maintenance, engaging vendors as needed for troubleshooting/upgrade.
    • Ensure parts conform to supplied drawings or requirements, performing inspection and verifying conformance to specifications.
    • Train and conform to company procedures, maintaining and drafting machine shop operational procedures and practices.
    • Draft and maintain machine shop procedures, train staff on operation of machine shop equipment and tools.
    • Ensure proper tooling and materials are available and used for part fabrication, oversee preventative maintenance of shop machines and tools.

    Requirements:

    • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 12 years machining experience required, with at least 10 years CNC programming experience utilizing CAM software.
    • Minimum 5 years inspection equipment experience and 3 years supervisory experience required.
    • Expertise in operating various machine shop equipment, including CNC Horizontal and Vertical Mill, CNC Lathe, Swiss Lathe, Water jet, Drill Press, Band saw, Table saw, Media blasting, and Pedestal grinder.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Solid leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge of staff management practices and processes.
    • Ability to interpret basic to complex engineering drawings and requirements.
    • Understanding of ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • Strong understanding of material consistencies of plastic and metal parts.
    • Logical problem-solving ability and demonstrated ability to organize project tasks forward in an orderly fashion.
    • Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and thorough knowledge of CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Esprit, and Mastercam).

    Physical Demands:

    This role requires frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking, and moving/lifting items up to 50lbs.

    Work Environment:

    This position is performed in a traditional production environment and/or light-manufacturing facility.
