- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure that plant equipment and maintenance systems function in an efficient and safe manner.
- Develop and maintain maintenance programs for all production areas and coordinating internal labour and external contractors as required.
- Provide technical leadership by assessing production requirements and matching resources to complete preventative maintenance and corrective work orders. Provides guidance for troubleshooting and emergency response activities.
- Ensures the effective coordination of planned downtime and repairs to minimize loss of production.
- Lead and support plans for capital expansions and related project management
- Prepares and manages the maintenance budget. Maintains inventory of spare parts, supplies and materials for critical maintenance repairs.
- Understands and promotes Maintenance department as a dedicated service to Operations and demonstrates a sense of urgency to support a 24/7 operation with on call support and response for unplanned downtime.
- Ensures compliance with Health and Safety objectives while meeting maintenance performance targets.
- Post Secondary education, preferably within mechanical maintenance or engineering field.
- 5-7 years of experience working in a supervisory or leadership capacity with preference given to support within 24/7 operational experience. Manufacturing experience in recycled paper is an asset.
- Thorough understanding of preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance principles and technologiesSubject matter expert on the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment.
- Excellent leadership, coaching & conflict management skills.
- Demonstrated experience with problem solving and troubleshooting (mechanical, electrical, automation)
- Experience and competence using a CMMS system, with implementation experience preferred.
- Strong sense of urgency who works well under pressure and reacts to stressful situations with professionalism.
