    The General Clerk I- Driver follows detailed specific procedures in completing several repetitive clerical steps performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence such as coding and filing documents in an extensive alphabetical file; could involve simple posting to individual accounts, opening mail, calculating and posting charges to departmental accounts, operating basic office equipment, photocopier, facsimile, multi-line phone/voicemail systems, mailing machines, and minimal computer programs. Little or no subject-matter knowledge is required but the clerk uses his or her judgment in choosing the proper procedure for each task (WDR Summary

    · Sorts all incoming mail (first-class, bulk) according to specific mail codes.

    · Maintains daily mail counts verifying arrival and delivery of all regular mail. Delivers and secures signature(s) of all accountable mail to the intended recipient within two hours from the time it is received in the mailroom. Conducts quality control checks per location and mail run to ensure that the mail is routed to the intended mail stop location.

    · Distributes and collects mail on two scheduled mail deliveries per day (10:00 and 2:00 throughout HUD Headquarters and/or HUD Satellite offices according to established routes and procedures.

    · Operates UPS WorldShip and CampusShip, meters, and the Arrival System.

    · Responsible for safety within the scope of work by proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.

    · Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.

    · Responsible for delivering and picking up various documents, packages, and other items following prescribed routes of routine runs. Shall be available for unscheduled runs as required. Assists in mailroom operations. Make delivery and pick-up run daily to scheduled locations at a specified time in accordance with a delivery schedule.

    · Obtain signatures for items delivered as required.

    · Keeps a log of schedule and deliveries.

    · Delivers and picks up a delivery vehicle for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.

    · Performs mailroom duties as assigned.

    · Responsible for fostering a positive team spirit and producing quality work.

    · Responsible for appropriate conduct and/or demeanor as dictated by Didlake policy and procedure.

    · Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.

    Requirements

    Education:

    ·High School diploma and/or equivalent plus a minimum of 1-year relevant work experience.

    Skills and Abilities:

    ·Must possess a valid driver's license, have an excellent driving record, and be insurable on the corporate automobile insurance policy.

    ·Must possess adequate communication skills including the ability to read and write basic correspondence.

    ·Ability to recognize and sequence numbers and letters.

    ·Ability to communicate fluently in English.

    ·Must project a positive and professional image to the public and co-workers.

    ·Familiarity with computers and possess basic keyboarding skills.

    ·Ability to pass a background check.

    Physical Requirements:

    -Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    -Moving/Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

    -Standing/Walking: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

    -Other demands include stooping, sitting, pulling, lifting, carrying pushing, climbing stairs and ladders; talking, and listening.
