    Our client is a growing construction cost and project management consulting firm, led by industry veterans with a first-class reputation for providing independent, practical and actionable advice to our clients.

    They are seeking a motivated Mechanical Estimator with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the industry, ideally spanning several sectors such as hospitality, commercial, education and government.

    Working knowledge of the Electrical trade will be beneficial but not required.

    Their consultants provide their clients with a well-rounded skill set that includes cost estimating, bid analysis, change order management, life-cycle costs analysis, contractual interpretation and positioning, value management and all other commercial construction aspects.

    We encourage close collaboration between our cost managers and project managers, such that each benefit from the other's project experience and complementary skill sets, continually improving the services we provide to our clients.

    This is an office-based position with an expectation of at least 2 days per week spent in the Alexandria office.

    RESPONSIBILITIESThe specific duties for the position include the following, at minimum:
    Deep knowledge of the Mechanical trade. Working knowledge of the Electrical trade would be beneficial but is not required.

    Cost estimating at all stages of a project's life-cycle - feasibility, concept, through the various design stages to pre-bid, detailed estimates with labor, material and equipment breakdowns.

    Participating in mechanical change order analysis and negotiation.
    Bid analysis and reconciliation.
    Pricing of mechanical deficiencies as part of the Facility Condition Assessment service.
    Attending project kick-off and progress meetings with the AE and Owner.
    Attending project site visits both in and occasionally outside the United States on an as needed basis.

    JOB REQUIREMENTSThe ideal candidate will have a solid background in the construction industry, quantity surveying / construction management / engineering or architecture, with the following specific requirements:
    EducationBachelors' or higher degree in a construction related discipline, or equivalent field experience.
    Experience5+ years estimating experience on medium to large-scale construction projects with specific reference to the MEP trades.
    Experience in writing reports, letters, and emails.

    Past experience with BlueBeam or other on-screen take-off software tools is beneficial, but training will be provided if necessaryIntermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

    Working knowledge of proprietary government estimating software/programs including but not limited to 2nd Generation MCASES (MII), SUCCESS, CostWorks and PACES will be ideal but not required.
