    The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nations most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Senior Program Director, Advancement for the Office of Development department.

    In this position you

    lead the establishment, planning and day to day execution of major and long-term Advancement strategic priorities supporting brand, fundraising, and advocacy.

    Coordinates plans across multiple departments and workstreams, (within Advancement and across the global organization) determines needed action items and deadlines and implements a system for performance management and accountability.

    Works across Advancement to ensure resource allocation is consistent with priorities and planning, leads internal communications and change management related to major projects.

    Works across all departments in the organization to ensure there is strategic alignment and appropriate resource allocation to achieve strategic priorities.

    Accountable for the successful development, implementation and launch of our new brand and name.

    Responsibilities:
    Working with the Advancement Leadership team, develops strategic priorities and identifies cross functional improvement opportunities. Designs and leads Advancement planning process;

    Develops strategy, decides on deliverables and deadlines, and creates schedules and action items for teams across the organization and around the world to drive projects.

    (1-3 projects at a time on a rolling basis, ranging in length from 2 years to 6 months);
    Develops and schedules meetings to coordinate project planning across departments and teams, in accordance with strategic planning and priorities. Follows up with action items and ensures accountability. Communicates challenges and gaps quickly and works with leaders to develop and implement solutions;
    Oversees and supports internal communications and change management work related to the execution of the project;
    Oversees and coordinates the work of consultants and vendors as they relate to the project, ensuring communication and alignment with working teams;
    Leads the continuous improvement and refinement of the project plan, including materials and processes related to evolving project needs and priorities;
    Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, or another related field, or equivalent work experience, required. Master's degree preferred;
    A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in project management, corporate communications and/or marketing, strategy, brand management, nonprofit administration, or another related field required;
    Previous budget responsibility of greater than $5,000,000 in cost or $10,000,000 in revenue generation;
    Management/supervisory experience preferred;
    Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with demonstrated flexibility and the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time sensitive deadlines and deliverables;
    Demonstrated strategic thinking, critical thinking, communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle complex situations and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving;
    Demonstrated propensity to be creative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned deliverables;
    Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;
    Leadership ability in work and meetings settings. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of projects and teams;
    Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
    Ability to set a positive tone with colleagues during their day;
    Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
    Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    Knowledge of business operations, including effective budget development and management processes;
    Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
    Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
    This position is based in the Washington, DC Metro Area Remote eligible.
