Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility.
This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.
Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.
The WTP is looking for a Senior Configuration Management Engineer at the WTP location in Richland Washington.
This position will report to the Project Design Authority at the WTP Project and requires interface with the senior project management team as well as the government customer.
This position has responsibility for the Configuration Management (CM) Program for the WTP High-Level Waste Project and will assist with the Direct Feed Low-Level Waste CM program when required.
Activities include:
defining project CM requirements, developing processes and specialty plans, maintaining the CM program plan, writing and reviewing procedures for implementation, and examining all aspects of CM process execution by all project functions to ensure compliance with the CM program plan and implementing documents.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must as is the ability to translate CM concepts into cost-effective practice.
The ability to coordinate and facilitate technical discussions to resolve CM issues involving upper management as well as line personnel is required.
The successful applicant will have the ability to interact with all levels of staff in an effective and diplomatic manner and have a demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve problems and develop practical solutions for implementation.
In addition to Configuration Management, the position requires a strong knowledge of codes and standards, DOE Orders and Standards, overall project requirements management, and engineering, procurement, and construction of large projects.
The position will require the development of procedures, guides, reports, and plans to support the Design Authority Manager and other project initiatives.

Responsibilities
Maintaining the overall WTP High-Level Waste CM Program independently
Coordination of Engineering Change Requests
Maintaining existing WTP CM Related Engineering procedures
Creating new WTP Engineering procedures and processes as needed
Modifying existing WTP Engineering Procedures as needed
Coordination of CM and procedural issues with the Design Authority and Senior Management
Independent recognition and development of necessary updates and improvements to Engineering processes
Performance/Support of Quality Engineering procedure annual reviews
Maintenance of the WTP Code of Record and Basis of Design
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Level 1- BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university with 6 years of technical experience, or a degree in a technical discipline with 6 years of technical experience in configuration management.
Level 2- BS degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university with 9 years of technical experience, or a degree in technical discipline with 9 years of technical experience in configuration management.
Minimum QualificationsWorking knowledge of DOE Orders and Standards.
Working knowledge of the engineering, procurement, construction, and operations life cycle.
Knowledge of Configuration Management on an EPC project.
Knowledge or requirements management.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of DOE-STD-1073 and ANSI/EIA-649B
Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction of a nuclear project or facility
Extensive knowledge of CM on an EPC nuclear project
