Join Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and be part of the exciting research team at the Child Health Institute of New Jersey. We are currently looking for a Temporary Research Assistant to work under the guidance of Dr. Zhiping Pang, the Principal Investigator.

As a Temporary Research Assistant (TRA) your main responsibilities will include molecular cloning, cell culture, high throughput imaging, and data analysis. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in neuroscience and/or cell biology, capable of conducting molecular, cellular, and imaging experiments independently.

To be considered for this role, you must be pursuing a degree in a biological science field, specializing in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related disciplines. Prior experience in molecular biology is a must, while knowledge in neuronal culture, protein complex purification, and cell imaging techniques is highly desirable. Experience with microscopy will be an advantage.

As you progress in your career, you will receive training to enhance your experimental design skills, as well as your oral and written presentation abilities. The Principal Investigator will provide various resources to support your career development needs.

Some key duties of this role include:

Performing molecular cloning.
Conducting mammalian cell culture, including isolation and expansion of cells from murine and human tissues, performing cell survival assays, and transfecting mammalian cells.
Maintaining laboratory instrumentation such as centrifuges, electrophoresis, and confocal microscopes.
Assisting in the establishment of performance standards, research methodologies selection, and coordination of instrumentation and experimental approaches for CHI research.
Contributing to a continuous program of research and development. Evaluating existing procedures and suggesting modifications to keep methodologies and procedures up to date.
