About the Role
As an Associate Director, Creative for Essential Music Publishing (EMP), you will work closely with songwriters and find new and innovative opportunities to put songwriters into creative spaces together with a goal of pitching songs from the EMP catalog for placement across all music genres and creative media outlets.
You'll reporting to the Vice President of Publishing at Provident Entertainment and work with a team to build your songwriter network and develop strong [professional relationships with internal label staff and external artists, writers, producers and engineers.
What you'll do:
Develop and cultivate outstanding professional relationships with Essential writer roster, including attending Essential writer functions, concerts, and other events
Seek out new opportunities for engaging/pitching Essential Music Publishing catalog through Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), Gospel, Hip-Hop, Worship, Film/TV, Country, and Pop music genres
Develop professional relationships with internal and external label marketing and A&R staff, artists, writers, and producers
Provide support to Essential writers through song development and critiquing, co-write scheduling and calendar management, and playlist updates.
Work alongside A&R team and Publishing Administration team for song detail and demo turn in.
Represent Essential Music at industry functions, including award shows, concerts, writer's nights, and other events
Partner with Sony Music Entrainment licensing division for all RCA Inspiration
Serve as primary point on a roster of priority EMP artist and staff writers and producers, ensuring consistent communication on administration, strategy and development
Who you are:
Experience in music publishing or related field working with Christian music writers, producers, artists, and/or label A&R staff with proven success in developing and cultivating industry relationships that led to achievement of desired business outcomes (typically gained through a minimum of 3 years of experience)
Bachelor's degree in music business, marketing, or business administration preferred
Knowledge of music & lyric structure and development in a variety of music genres required
Knowledge of current Christian music and worship music markets required
Experience with Windows-based applications in and ability to learn new software as necessary
Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships when pertaining to budget tracking and other day-to-day applications.
Proven ability to exhibit a professional manner and maintain constructive working relationships with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company
Proven work ethic with success meeting deadlines, working on multiple priority tasks simultaneously; ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions
Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time
Ability to adapt behavior and manner based on expectations and needs of audience
