    Amazon's Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites aimed at providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved and unserved communities worldwide.

    As a Sr. system engineer, you will be responsible for key aspects of phased array antenna system design, verification and optimization.

    You will be working in a collaborative environment and engage with experienced cross-disciplinary teams to deliver advanced high-performance phased array antenna systems.

    Key job responsibilities
    In this role, you will be responsible for:


    • Develop algorithms and define test plans to calibrate, verify and optimize performance of phased array antennas and participate in performance analysis and design trade-off studies of phased arrays.
    • Automate phased array verification and performance analysis at all environmental conditions and develop required post-processing to analyze test results
    • Lab measurement and validation of performance of antennas, and phased array systems and subsystems
    • Working with antenna, modem, RF and Digital teams and provide input to verify and fine-tune the designs.
    • Interface with Antenna/RF Engineers to enhance phased array antenna tests and automate post-processing using third-party software suites and to generate test reports
    • Ensure required test coverage to verify requirements and validate models and implement, validate, and optimize lab and chamber test configurations
    • Interpret test results, troubleshoot issues, and perform root-cause analysis for any test failures
    • Support integration of antennas and customer terminals into the rest of the Kuiper system
    • Troubleshoot software and hardware problems with pre-production equipment
    • Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity, especially as it relates to rapid test iteration
    • Support test automation of antennas and customer terminals throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to implementation to integration
    • Solve problems using the most appropriate combination of hardware, software, systems design, architecture, process, and/or operations
    • Communicate task progress status and issues effectively with developers and managers
    • Meet with suppliers to select enabling lab technologies
    • Perform in-field test and validation of various antenna architectures
    • Expect up to 20% of travel depending on the phases of the projects

    About the team
    Kuiper antenna team is responsible for developing antennas with applications in Kuiper satellite network. They own the entire process including requirement documents, architecture definition, hardware development, and verification.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience
    • 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
    • 2+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
    • Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
    • MS or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Knowledge of the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle
    • Experience in leading the development of software or computing infrastructure delivered to customers
    • Technical knowledge and experience with IT environments including applications, middleware, storage, networks, information security, and operations
    • Understanding of information security principals related to compliance and governance and certified in technical security design or advisory work
    • Solid understanding of and experience with networking fundamentals including, but not limited to, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, common ports and protocols
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches and drivingtoresolution technical integration issues across various platforms
