    The mission of the Patient Transport Aide is to enhance patient care by providing courteous and timley transports and to provide assistance to nursing for safe patient handling.

    Patient Transports goal is to provide high quality services while optimally utilizing personnel and lift equipment.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    License /Certification


    Required:
    Heartsaver AED

    Education


    Required:
    High School diploma

    Experience


    Preferred:
    Patient care experience

    Testing

    Must pass the Physical Capacity Exam (PCE). This exam includes a 50-pound lifting requirement.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    Essential

    Transports patients throughout the hospital as assigned.

    Delivers lab specimens, as needed, to Laboratory. Picks blood products from Laboratory and delivers to the floor.

    Responds to Code Blue, Rapid Response and Code Grey.

    Safely delivers medication.

    Assists in turning and repositioning of patients.

    Bed exchanges- transfers patients onto specialty beds. Sets up bed extenders.

    Acts as a Super User for Lift Equipment. Conducts Lift Equipment training for Kaweah Health Orientation.

    Acts as a Super User for Safe Patient Handling and Lift Fair.

    Sets up and removes Over Head Trapeze and Traction.

    Uses Tele-Tracking system.

    Coordinates appropriate equipment redistribution.

    Cleans equipment after use and provides general equipment cleaning.

    Accompanies patients that do not require assistive device for ambulation.

    Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

    Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Pay Range

    $20.00 -$30.00
