    Description

    Overview

    Kimley-Horn's Salt Lake City, Utah (UT) location is in need of a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join their Surface Water department. This position is not remote.

    Responsibilities

    • The selected candidate will work in a vibrant team setting on various projects that include:
      - Surface water management studies
      - Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
      - Analysis and design
      - Flood studies, resiliency, and vulnerability assessments
      - Green infrastructure planning and design
    • Being a crucial team member, you will handle a range of engineering tasks, receive on-the-job and formal training, mentoring, exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience in surface water modeling and/or design
    • BSc or MSc from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering
    • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or eligibility to acquire within 12 months)
    • Experience in developing and calibrating Hydraulic/Hydrology models like ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and SWMM
    • Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS (knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation is advantageous)
    • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Demonstrated sense of urgency and self-motivation to meet client deadlines
    • Keen attention to detail and ability to enhance a positive work atmosphere
    • Able to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team
    • Proficiency in Python programming is preferred but not mandatory
