REPORTS TO: Site Director
PROGRAM SUPERVISOR: Regional Director for Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Georgia School Counselor certificate preferred (see below if not)
College degree required, Masters preferred
Working knowledge of high school school counseling preferred
Ability to take direction and perform tasks independently

DUTIES:

Student Services

Facilitate monthly Student Services Meetings to discuss student needs.
Make referrals to School Social Worker as necessary.
Collaborate with other site staff to plan and implement activities to meet student needs and site goals. Activities may include Senior Night; College Night; Career Night; FTE Nights; Financial Aid Workshops; FAFSA Workshops; Job Information Workshops; Dual Enrollment Night.
Assist in communication with parent/guardian(s) as appropriate to support students.
Provide mental health support to students in crisis and assist with Suicide Intervenion Plan work when necessary.

Mentor Facilitator

Recruit and train new mentors.
Assign every full-time Foothills student a mentor and monitor activities.

Counseling- Academic Guidance/Enrollment(if Student Services Manager is not a certified counselor, they will consult with an assigned Partner Site Counselor for following duties) If the site has a counselor the counselor will perform these duties:

Conduct initial evaluation of new student transcripts and evaluate credits needed for graduation and then create the graduation checklist.
Meet with entering students and parent/guardian(s) and facilitate orientation/enrollment.
Assign new courses for entering students.
Assign appropriate courses for students who complete courses per graduation requirements and facilitate course completion forms.
Maintain a "Hot List" of students nearing graduation.
Create Senior Grad Review data in Infinite Campus to monitor progress toward graduation.

Career Specialist-Postsecondary and Career Guidance

Conference with students, individually or in groups, to meet requirements of Bridge Bill legislation to develop career goals and plans at regularly established intervals.
Counsel students about post-secondary plans and assist them with necessary tests such as ASVAB, Compass, SAT, ACT PSAT, and ASSET. Arrange for fee waivers if necessary and work to ensure that students sit for the tests.
Assist in the monitoring of dual enrolled students to identify and remove barriers and intervene with appropriate support as needed.
Assist students with access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities.

Internal Support and Professional Development

Provide Site Director with appropriate data as requested.
Use available technology resources to enhance the student services programs and stay up-to-date on all state requirements.
Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.
