    An OUTSTANDING Opportunity - Director of

    Pharmacy Ambulatory Care Programs:
    This director will have oversight of the OVERARCHING ambulatory care pharmacy footprint, including ambulatory clinical services, infusion centers, ambulatory surgery centers, population health, cancer services, and other clinical services


    This leader will also be responsible for leading the development of new ambulatory clinical care opportunities to optimize patient health outcomes and contribute to Stanford Healthcare's overarching performance and priority goals.

    A Brief Overview
    This position is to ensure high-quality and affordable care while maintaining superior patient experience and accesses across SHC.

    Under the direction of the ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR-PHARMACY SERVICES, the DIRECTOR-PHARMACY AMBULATORY CARE PROGRAMS is responsible for the overall management and performance of ambulatory care services at SHC, which include hospital-based infusion centers, ambulatory surgery centers, population health/primary care programs, transitions of care, and specialty clinics.

    Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, regulations and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services, policies, and procedures.

    Assists the Pharmacy Admin Director with the implementation of initiatives in Clinical Care. Directs and leads the management and staff to implement quality and utilization standards. Partners with stakeholders, providers, pharmacy directors, managers, supervisors to ensure quality and cost-effective clinical pharmacy care.

    What you will do

    • Assists the Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) and Administrative Director with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives which are designed to enhance quality, improve member service, and enhance cost effectiveness.
    • Provides leadership and direction to pharmacy department managers, supervisors, lead personnel, and staff including hiring, evaluating, and coaching/development.
    • Responsible for personnel management activities (e.g. recruits, hires, trains and evaluates, and/or terminates subordinate exempt and hourly personnel), involved in area strategic workforce planning and succession planning.
    • Accountable for ambulatory pharmacy operations, clinical quality, service, and fiscal outcomes. Assists in the planning, development and implementation of operational and clinical Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services, which include population health, transitions of care, infusion centers, ambulatory surgery centers, specialty clinics and future programs.
    • Responsible for ambulatory pharmacy services, performance measurements, and supports regulatory compliance with Federal and State laws, regulations, standards, TJC, OSHA, CABOP, CMS Star Measures, HEDIS, and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Administers all departmental policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that the department(s) business plan integrates with the SHC Pharmacy Strategic Plan by developing initiatives to meet departmental goals and objectives.
    • Works in collaboration with providers, department heads, Drug Utilization Management team, Clinical Pharmacists and the Pharmacy Management Team to implement clinical care programs to enhance quality, member service and cost effectiveness.
    • Accountable for managing capital and operating budgets for ambulatory services, including inventory control.
    • Prepares and/or approves the bi-weekly payroll, and monitors personnel utilization in accordance with the operating budget or workload requirements.
    • Responsible for pharmaceutical care activities including patient care, performance measurements, employee development, competency assessment, standards of practice, multidisciplinary team development, quality and cost outcomes.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Education Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy, or
    • PharmD from an accredited college/university

    Experience Qualifications

    • Seven year of progressively responsible, and directly related work experience required

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time)
    • Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues
    • Ability to strategize, plan and implement change
    • Knowledge of all phases of hospital pharmacy
    • Expertise of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management
    • Knowledge of project management processes and systems
    • Knowledge of reimbursement systems
    • Demonstrated proficiency in development and ongoing Quality Improvement of medication use systems and the Practice of Pharmacy.
    • Practice experience in integrated healthcare systems

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RPH - Registered Pharmacist; if not registered in the State of California, must obtain CA registration within 180 days of hire. .

    Base Pay Scale:
    Generally starting at $ $117.84 per hour


    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
