    Summary

    Young Living is looking for a highly motivated professional for the role of manager, software development.

    This person will be responsible for ensuring our software and quality assurance engineers and their respective teams are delivering effectively.

    They will be responsible for ensuring the capabilities, productivity, performance, training, management, and resources of their teams are conforming with expected delivery requirements and business needs.

    A strong software development manager will foster career growth and a strong team culture. Development Managers work almost exclusively independently within their space.

    In addition, they are highly trusted to take part in strategic level conversations and guidance of development standards and direction.

    In addition, a dev manager will be expected to spend up to 50% of their time as a contributing developer.

    Essential Functions

    • Manage and oversee one or several development teams
    • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of those teams is effective and sufficient to meet their respective business needs
    • Responsible for ensuring individuals on a team have the required capabilities to be performant in their required positions and roles
    • Responsible for designating leadership individuals within the team - technical leads, quality leads, etc. - as required to provide clear direction
    • Research, perform, and provide regular ongoing training materials and opportunities for team members and hold them accountable to complete them
    • Perform regular assessments of the state of their teams in the areas of productivity, roadblocks, inefficiencies, strengths and weaknesses to ensure ongoing performance
    • Identify, track and monitor metrics giving insight into the performance of their teams and individuals, and ensures their team members are providing the relevant reporting as required for those metrics
    • Coordinate with product and project managers to ensure development teams are sufficient and performing to deliver on the required product roadmap(s) and individual project(s)
    • Provide regular reporting on the status of their teams, and proactively researches and proposes solutions to any issues found
    • Responsible for ensuring their development teams are conforming with established quality and technical standards and requirements, and provides trainings of the same as required
    • Responsible for regular delivery success of their development teams, as measured by successful and failed releases and related issues or deficiencies
    • Responsible for being familiar with modern development management practices and standards, and completing ongoing trainings of the same
    • Responsible for the personnel management of their team members
    • Adhere to development standards and requirements
    • Comply with security standards and requirements
    • Perform programming tasks as directed by team lead or another Sr. Software Engineer on the team.
    • Working knowledge programming principles and apply them to assigned tasks.
    • Apply software design principles to technical problems with moderate oversight by Sr. Software Engineers on the team
    • Contribute to software design meetings other team technical discussions
    • Participate in team code reviews
    • Work independently as a Sr Software Engineer on the team.
    • Independently solve problems by applying excellent software design and development principles.

    • Experience working, leading or managing in modern development methodologies, particularly Agile and related practices
    • Experience working with Jira project management software
    • Experience working in an Agile development environment
    • Experience forming teams and recruiting engineers
    • Experience developing careers with highly-skilled software engineers
    • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
    • Project management experience
    • Working knowledge computer programming and software development in one or more of the following software languages: C#, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, TypeScript
    • Working knowledge of AWS Cloud Services and Architectures.
    • Working knowledge of at least one of the following JavaScript framework/libraries: React, Angular
    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position does have supervisory responsibility of two or more engineers.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, photocopiers, shredders, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.

    Physical Demands


    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms.

    This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in information technology, MIS, computer science or related field.

    Five plus years of experience in multiple common development languages or quality engineering technologies, experience leading development teams in a key engineering or related role.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    Master's degree or equivalent in computer science or a related engineering field is preferred. Experience in a Direct Selling or Network Marketing environment (desired).
