    Sports Medicine Physician

    We are seeking a talented and versatile Sports Medicine Physician to join our progressive medical team. In this unique role, you will practice as part of a busy Orthopedic Team in addition to providing student health services to the population of Norwich University.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide a mix of sports medicine and student health services.
    • Diagnose and treat medical conditions in the context of both sports-related injuries and other student health concerns.
    • Utilize specialized sports medicine knowledge to address musculoskeletal injuries, exercise-related health issues, and performance optimization.
    • Offer evidence-based treatment plans for sports-related injuries, collaborating with physical therapists, orthopedic specialists, and other relevant professionals.
    • Conduct thorough medical assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and sports clearance physicals.
    • Manage an average of patients per day, adjusting based on case complexity and medical needs.
    • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills to educate patients about diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive measures.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records.
    • Allocate time effectively for 4 patient-facing 8-hour days and 1 non-patient facing day, with some flexibility in scheduling.
    • Prioritize continuous professional development and stay current with advancements in both sports medicine and family medicine.
    • Uphold ethical standards and patient confidentiality.

    Qualifications:

    • Board certification as an MD or DO in Family Medicine.
    • Additional board certification or fellowship training in Sports Medicine.
    • Preferred background in ultrasound, diagnostics/therapeutics, & injections.
    • Ability to obtain valid and unrestricted medical license in Vermont.
    • Expertise in diagnosing and managing sports-related injuries and exercise-related health concerns.
    • Strong clinical acumen and diagnostic skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
    • Commitment to delivering patient-centered care.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a hybrid medical role.
    • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to balance patient-facing clinical days and administrative duties.
