    Description

    St. Mark's School of Texas seeks an experienced educator to join our Lower School faculty beginning in the school year. A strong candidate will be a compassionate teacher with knowledge and understanding of the development of young boys. Experience should include the background to teach necessary language arts and math skills as well as a passion for building strong relationships with every student in the classroom and cultivating a sense of belonging. Candidates should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, be organized and punctual, and be a positive team player. St. Mark's is a vibrant learning community, and successful candidates will be generative in their thinking about teaching and learning, will enjoy working with young boys, and will seek to collaborate with colleagues, share teaching resources, and contribute to the wider school community in a myriad of ways.

    Responsibilities

    • Teach first grade math, language arts, and social studies
    • Prepare and collaborate with teammates to create daily lesson plans that are developmentally and academically appropriate
    • Supervise and guide homeroom students
    • Participate in curriculum development, grade-level activities, and schoolwide functions
    • Collaborate with teaching partner to create and plan first grade projects and field trips
    • Communicate regularly with parents
    • Participate in admission observations on Saturdays in December and January Experience/Qualifications & Skills
      • A Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree is preferred
      • A minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary level
      • A deep understanding of child development and best practices in education
      • Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning
      • A positive and clear communication style with colleagues, students, and parents
