Job Overview

As a Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for coordinating the execution of savings initiatives by strategically identifying opportunities and applying critical thinking to develop long-term sourcing solutions. Your role will involve recognizing supply risks and market trends, as well as utilizing negotiation skills and strategic tactics to secure reliable sources for future development projects. Additionally, you will be instrumental in shaping and implementing a purchasing strategy for your assigned commodity, ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and delivery performance from suppliers while fostering long-term business partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate supplier changes for strategic sourcing or distressed suppliers
• Responsible for cost reduction initiatives and support of Purchase Price Variance (PPV) report
• Communicate and coordinate supplier issues and resolution with the Purchasing Team
• Travel up to 25% domestic and international
• Accurately update information in Project Management software and ERP systems
• Resolve supplier deficiencies that could impact the development of future products

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of relevant purchasing experience or equivalent role, preferably in the automotive industry
• Highly skilled in negotiation, financial cost analysis and market analysis
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated experience with supplier relationships, in-depth knowledge of contract negotiations and product development.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications required
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, injection molding, casting)
• Strong aptitude in Microsoft Excel required
• Hands-on experience with SAP strongly preferred
• Willingness to travel up to 25%; international and domestic travel by plane and car required
