- Delivers patient care consistent with established professional nursing standards and surgery center policies and practices.
- Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative, PACU (postoperative anesthesia care unit) and post-operative care while maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters and keeping patient flow in mind.
- Observes patients for side effects of anesthesia and monitors patient`s level of consciousness throughout the sedation recovery.
- Provides pre-operative and discharge instructions to patients including, but not limited to, diet, activity, medication reconciliation, and obtaining a post-operative appointment, if needed.
- Assures education is provided to patients and their families regarding post-surgery care at home.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
- BLS Certifications (American Heart Association)
- Two years nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Specialty specific and ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge in critical care practice

The Pre/Post Op RN will be responsible for preforming duties related to direct patient care.
The role will be assessing, monitoring, recovering, and providing professional nursing services for patients of assigned physician(s) following established nursing practice standards.
The position will provide professional nursing support in the ambulatory surgery center by assisting physicians with procedures, patient assessment, transfers, and patient education.
