    Description
    Process Control EngineerThis position is in Nippon Dynawave Packaging's engineering department, and reports to the Engineering Manager.

    The engineering department provides engineering and process control support to the Fiber Supply, Fiberline, Paper Machine, Extruders, Wet Lap, Pulp Drying Line, and Energy & Utilities production areas.


    Key Functions:


    Key functions of the position include providing day to day support to the distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, process control loops, and variable frequency drives used in the mill's production areas.

    Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering departments on projects related to on-going process enhancements and equipment reliability improvements.


    Expectations:
    Participate and lead as appropriate in safety process improvements to ensure an injury free work site.

    Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance on the hardware and software that comprise Nippon Dynawave Packaging's process control and variable frequency drive systems.

    Assist with the design and implementation of new hardware, software, and drive packages to improve production, quality, safety, productivity, and operation of the Longview mill.

    Work independently, and in conjunction with vendor personnel, to optimize distributed control, process control, and variable frequency drive systems.
    Participate in the successful execution of capital and major maintenance projects with other company personnel, consultants, and contractors.

    Interact with members of production, engineering, quality, and maintenance departments to address process control system needs, and lead efforts to implement the identified improvements.

    Update documentation to reflect changes made to process control and variable frequency drive systems.

    Work closely with the production/maintenance departments and equipment vendors to ensure mill personnel receive appropriate training, and planned/preventive maintenance is performed on process control systems and variable frequency drivesMaintain professional competence and knowledge in process control systems, variable frequency drives, controls industry, and in the manufacturing processes.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

    Electrical, Chemical, or Bioresource/Paper Science Engineering disciplines preferred.1+ year of process control engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment desiredFamiliarity with Foxboro I/A, Emerson Delta-V, Allen-Bradley PLC, and Rockwell drive products preferred.

    Demonstrated skill in electronic hardware and software troubleshooting.
    Excellent project and time management skillsDemonstrated problem solving skills with ability to analyze data and recommend solutions.
    Demonstrated ability to work well in cross functional teams as a member or as a team leader.
    Must be willing to perform in an on call environment, including weekends and weeknights.

    About Nippon Dynawave Packaging in Longview, WA:

    The Longview Liquid Packaging facility produces bleached paperboard used to make cartons and cups for liquids such as milk, juice, coffee, and sake.

    The facility employs about 500 people and produces 260,000 metric tons of paperboard each yearthe equivalent of 6 billion liter-sized milk cartons.

    Weyerhaeuser launched the Longview Liquid Packaging business in 1953 and operated the facility until its acquisition by Nippon Paper Industries (NPI).The facility began a new era under NPI ownership on September 1, 2016, operating as Nippon Dynawave Packaging.
